Dining

Dining options that appeal to even the pickiest eaters!

One of the best ways of returning to and maintaining a healthy, happy lifestyle is by eating the right foods. At Sunny Vista, there is a delectable menu of nutritious meals, served in a variety of venues. The Dining team believes in using organic and local products in food preparation as much as possible.

Sunny Vista’s Chef also believes in providing residents with choice. There are daily specials, soup du jour, and additional everyday favorites for residents to choose from.

The Retreat at Sunny Vista

The Retreat at Sunny Vista features two delicious dining venues in the assisted living neighborhood. Whether enjoying a full-service dining experience in the Pike’s Peak restaurant or a casual meal in the Culebra Café, Sunny Vista’s chef-prepared cuisine is delicious, nutritious, and made with the finest quality ingredients. The elevated dining program infuses the “WOW” in every delightful morsel – breakfast, lunch and dinner!

The Dining Department at The Retreat and The Living Center would not be the same without Head Chef, Aaron Burke. Aaron Burke was born and raised in Colorado Springs. He has been in food and beverage in the hospitality industry for more than 20 years and received his culinary degree at the top of his class from Le Cordon Bleu in Austin TX. After many restaurants and multiple hotels, Aaron decided to shift course in his career. He started in healthcare seven years ago and found that the joy in cooking for those that paved the path for us is incredibly rewarding.

Sunny Vista’s chef regularly hosts live action cooking demonstrations where residents engage and delight in the cooking process. The culinary team provides special meals for big occasions, ladies and men’s’ lunches and catering for a variety of events.

The Retreat’s philosophy of person-directed care is evident in the unique dining program. Flexible dining times encourage residents to dine on their schedule. And there is always room to host loved ones as the private dining room is available for family gatherings and other social events.

The Living Center at Sunny Vista

The Living Center at Sunny Vista offers enhanced dining in a program called “Open Dining” or “Sunny Vista Anytime Menu.” From seven in the morning until seven at night, residents may eat whenever they choose unlike at most traditional care communities. Residents are also able to choose what they would like to eat, which is not common at other long-term care communities.

For breakfast, lunch and dinner, Sunny Vista offers one Chef Special per meal served during set times. (7:30am-9:00am breakfast, 11:00am-1:00pm lunch, 4:30pm-6:00pm dinner) Residents are not, however, required to come to the dining room during these times; they can order off the open dining menu at any point in time while the kitchen is open and eat in either their suite or in the dining room.

The Villa at Sunny Vista

The Villa at Sunny Vista offers a community kitchen as well as individual kitchens in each apartment. Residents of The Villa can participate in on-campus dining.
