“Absolutely love this place my dad was happy with everything and everyone at the facility. It’s super clean never has any odors the staff are all very friendly and kind to the patients. My dad will only go for rehab at sunnyvista any time he needs a little skilled nursing so he can come home and be safe.”
“Both of my parents (ages 90+) have had excellent rehab experiences at Sunny Vista after their hospital stays. So many individuals helped with the process and I’m grateful that we found Sunny Vista after a terrible experience at another (very large) facility. I can’t remember all the names of the team, but several stood out. Nurse Amanda’s observations were spot-on, and she was great at communicating. Paru, the PT was good at connecting with both parents, and the nurse practitioner Elena was experienced and insightful. The one practice this facility utilizes that makes the most difference is their Tuesday “rounds.” A representative from each area of care meets together with the patient every week, and the family is invited. The team answered so many questions during these visits every Tuesday, and it really helped our family to know what was going on and to prepare for discharge. What an amazing group of people. “
“As my mother was approaching the time when she would require assistance in order to live on her own, our family was starting to panic. We had heard the horror stories and how hard it would be to find a facility where she would be well attended to, and one we would feel confident about as well. It’s been six months since we were fortunate enough to get her into The Retreat at Sunny Vista, and so far it’s been the best decision ever! The staff is amazing, friendly, and very accommodating to all of the residents. The facility is impeccably clean, and has a vast array of constant activities for the residents, as well as visiting family members. I sleep better at night knowing she’s well attended to, and getting all of the assistance she needs, be it routine or urgent!”
“My 97yo father with short-term memory loss needed a memory care community almost immediately after my 90yo mother sustained significant injuries from a fall. While my mother receives care in another community at the same Sunny Vista campus, my father moved into the memory care community at The Retreat at Sunny Vista. With over thirty years of professional healthcare experience working for a company that managed various eldercare communities, I knew what qualities I was looking for in a community for my father. They included:
1. A staff with caring hearts, as well as a staff with a positive, competent, respectful, and creative mindset. The team from the very start, welcomed questions and provided timely, all-around communication. My father and I felt welcomed by the initial staff Meet-and-Greet, and by the beautiful plant with a hand-signed welcome card that included heartfelt messages like, “Welcome! We’re glad that you’re here!” Customer service and the little things really do matter. My father’s care has been excellent.
2. A team to help “make things happen” for the resident and family that may not always be easy to do vs. saying, “We can’t do that.” The staff helped, upon request, coordinate two private lunches between my father and me, followed by the coordination of a somewhat complicated transport of my father across the street to visit my mother in another Sunny Vista community. When things did not go as planned or expected, staff became creative, and the end result was still met.
3. A clean, modern, and overall aesthetically-appealing community. The physical layout is beautiful, with a non-institutional architectural “feel” and design. It’s modern, and the color scheme is warm and inviting. The many windows bring lots of light and outside views, inside. It doesn’t smell “like a nursing home” or have a lingering, chemical odor. The outside courtyard is artistically designed and resident-accessible. The apartment size is ideal for a person needing memory care.
4. Good food, service, and staff observation at meals. The food is tasty, the menu cycle varied, and staff readily “rounds” during meals to refill beverages. Another “All-the-Time” menu is also available and increases meal variety.
5. A life enrichment program with many events/activities that are diverse and individualized. The staff focuses on my father’s favorite things: nature, music, and food. He enjoys the meals, enjoys listening and “dancing” in his wheelchair when guest musicians perform, and there are plenty of opportunities to enjoy nature.
All five qualities have not only been met, but have been exceeded in the short time that my father has lived at The Retreat at Sunny Vista. The team really does genuinely care. It is evident in how they treat the residents who live there, the family and friends who visit, and in how they treat each other. I am very grateful for the team at The Retreat at Sunny Vista. The choice of this home was a great decision.”
“From the moment I arrived at Sunny Vista Living Center (SVLC), I was treated not only as a patient but as a valued guest – a term that truly reflects the atmosphere of this amazing facility! The care here is kind, loving, and deeply respectful. Every member of the staff is incredibly patient and attentive without being overbearing. They have a protective, nurturing approach that makes you feel safe and supported, which is especially important during such a vulnerable time. What stands out to me most is how equally everyone is treated. You truly cannot tell a full-on Medicaid resident from someone paying privately. There’s no hierarchy – just genuine care and dignity for each person. The entire staff (except maybe the kitchen staff) go out of their way, everyday to make each resident feel seen, heard, and valued. I’m writing all this because too often reviews come from moments of frustration or anger. But places like SVLC deserve recognition for getting it right – not just once, but consistently. If you, or loved one are considering a short, or long term physical rehabilitation facility, please, by all means, consider SVLC. This is a place where healing happens in both body and spirit”
“Not only is Sunny Vista a beautiful home for Mom, but the staff members are truly exceptional in their dedicated care from the nurses to CNAs, housekeeping and reception. Steve Downs the director is attentive and welcoming. Mom’s meals are tasty and nutritious with lots of variety. We have been very happy with her new home and are grateful for the outstanding services.”
“The Retreat at Sunny Vista is wonderful. The staff are incredibly friendly and helpful. They were understanding that we had not done anything like this before, and they were fabulous in helping me with things I needed to look for and handle. They did a 30-day adjustment time for my folks where they gave extra time to them and our family to make sure we all were feeling good about it. They’ve been fabulous – it’s like an extended family there. The facility itself is wonderful My mom comments constantly how much they decorate for each holiday. And they involve the residents in it by having them help make decorations or arrange flowers that someone donates every week. And then they set them throughout the facility. They have lots of things like that that make it a goad experience. When they first moved in under Covid restrictions, they couldn’t eat in the dining room. But now the dining room is back open, and it has been great. The food is amazing. My mom mom thinks it’s wonderful. And they’re just being well taken care of. “
“I recently moved Mom from another memory care facility to The Retreat at Sunny Vista. I was impressed with this facility right away. The building is clean and beautifully decorated. The management seeks feedback and addresses issues to continuously improve service. The care team members who utilize the portable technology system know the specific care to provide to residents throughout the day. Residents can independently visit different areas of the community while still being seen and electronically monitored by staff. Mom is now much calmer, engaged, and happy. I would like to give recognition to an outstanding employee: Manny is great at motivating and comforting the residents. My siblings and I feel fortunate to have him on the team that cares for our mother.”
“The Retreat was our favorite property. They have wide hallways, big elevators, and lots of public restrooms in the common areas. Their apartments were very spacious and with nice high-end finishes. They have full size refrigerators in all apartments and lots of space for food and a microwave. The bathrooms had a no lip walk-in showers with lots of space of a walker or wheelchair. They have a gym for PT/OT and barber/beauty shop on site. The meals were good with a meal special at each mealtime and a set menu they can order from at any time. They have memory care available for those who need it, but all residents get the call button/tracker to help them be found if they miss their meds or a meal, need help or simply want some cookies & milk. Their care packages were very reasonably priced and encompassed the care he needs. Overall this was our favorite and is the one for my dad.”
“What an amazing team of caring individuals dedicated to the population they serve. Truly one of the best Senior Communities in the area where you are free to socialize and enjoy your independence while knowing they are there to assist you should the need arise. Imagine the peace of mind knowing their focus is on making you feel at home and taking care of your needs.”
“My wife lives at Sunny Vista. Sunny Vista is an excellent and well-cared for facility; the management and staff are extremely responsive to needs; SV has very good staff; even the CEO makes frequent visits and knows the residents by name; issues are addressed tout suite. Daily life has been pleasing to my wife. She has made a few friends there. Mealtimes are a real community experience and a time when we get to meet relatives of other residents. Activities have been engaging for her and at times the highlight of her day. One of the two activities directors leads residents playing memory games on a seventy-five-inch touchscreen computer they have. I haven’t seen this at other facilities. “

Residents always look happy and content, the care staff really care about the residents, the building is new and always clean, and the food is very tasty. “I have been a nurse since 2013 and this is my first experience working in an assisted living facility. I have to say it was really rough at first due to the lack of staff, but the team here really works hard to make this an easy and enjoyable place to work. It has been a great first place to learn how to manage as a nurse in assisted living. I have enjoyed working with and getting to know the staff members and residents. It really is like a family, and such a great team to be a part of!”
